What is the Benin e-Visa?

The Benin e-Visa is an official electronic travel authorization that allows foreign nationals to enter Benin for tourism, business, or transit purposes. It simplifies the visa process by removing the need to visit a consulate or embassy. Once approved, the e-Visa is delivered electronically and must be presented upon arrival.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Open to citizens of most countries worldwide.
  • Applicants must have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the date of arrival.
  • A recent passport-size photo and scanned passport bio page are required.
  • Application must be submitted online prior to departure.

Validity & Duration

  • Benin e-Visas are available in different durations:
    • 30 days – Single or multiple entry.
    • 90 days – Single or multiple entry.
    • 1 year – Multiple entry.
  • The validity starts from the date of approval, not from the entry date.

Application Process

  • Apply Online: Fill out the application with personal, passport, and travel details.
  • Upload Documents: Submit a scanned passport bio page and recent photo.
  • Pay the Fee: Complete payment securely online.
  • Receive e-Visa: The approved e-Visa is sent by email and must be printed for presentation at entry.

Important Notes & Restrictions

  • Printed Copy Required: Travelers must carry a printed copy of the e-Visa.
  • Designated Entry Points: Valid only at official ports of entry (airports and land borders).
  • No Extension: The e-Visa cannot be extended beyond the approved duration.
  • Travel Purpose: The e-Visa is for tourism, business, or transit only—long-term stays require a different visa.
